Ginger
Ginger is titled as a super food and this is because its roots have gingerol, which is very good for our health. Another reason is because it is an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. It is used as a medicine in many Asian countries including China.

When you talk about the taste, hardly any other spice can replace its flavour. Whether you want a hot spicy food or soup, ginger can make all the difference.

You can add it in stir-fry or curry, make tea out of it by simply adding boiled water on sliced ginger roots and also make ginger lemonade by mixing it with honey or lemon juice.

They are very effective in relieving us from digestive problems and help prevent nausea. Apart from these major and well-known benefits, it also works in reducing muscle pain and soreness. And if you have got cold, then it is one of the best home remedies to opt for.

Any kind of chronic indigestion will not trouble you once you start having ginger.  For osteoarthritis, it is a must-have thing. With all these benefits, ginger is a TLC that our stomach needs.

Turmeric
Although turmeric has several benefits from both health and taste perspective, if you are eating a meal that contains turmeric wearing a white dress, then you need to be very careful. Otherwise, your white dress would turn yellow forever, as it is too hard to get rid of turmeric stains.

It has a yellow pigment, known as curcumin that is very useful in preventing inflammation. Chronic inflammation plays a vital role in several diseases like arthritis, chronic pain, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, metabolic syndrome and other digestion related problems.

As we cannot absorb curcumin directly, we can combine it with piperine, which is found in black pepper, to help our body absorb of it. Turmeric is not only a good antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, but also helps fight several diseases.

Some other benefits of turmeric are – it reduces the risk of diabetes, improves brain functions, has anti-cancer effects and can fight with several cancers effectively including breast cancer, skin cancer and colon cancer. It is also considered an anti-depressant spice.

Cinnamon
Cinnamon has been used as a medicine for several years, as it has turned out to be very effective for heart disease. Apart from heart problems, even diseases like blood pressure, cholesterol, poor metabolism and blood sugar can be controlled by it. No matter which type of diabetes you have (be it high level or low level), it can work wonders for both of them.

Speaking of cinnamons, they are of two types – Cassia and Ceylon. Cassia is considered as the true one and has a good amount of coumarin. But be careful while using it, as a large amount of coumarin can be harmful. You can find it in any supermarket near you and it is not too costly. But we suggest you buy Ceylon cinnamon, as it does not contain a lot of coumarin and is safe to have.

Just like ginger and turmeric, it is also an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It can boost your brain’s functioning, is good for our teeth’s and prevents food craving, which can help us fight our obesity easily.

You can add cinnamon in your coffee, fruits and yoghurt. And if you like a bit of sweetness in your food, then it is the right option for you, as it adds oomph of sweetness in the meal. You can also use its sticks in tagine and stew.

The next time you find yourself suffering from any kind of health issue (Hope that doesn’t happen!), remember what these incredible spices can do for you and use them in your meal so that you feel better!
